Modern humans date from about 200,000 years ago in Africa. However the part that has the most relevance to us began 50,000 to 70,000 years ago with the migration of homo sapiens from Africa north to the Levant and eventually Scandanavia and east and northeast to Asia eventually arriving about 12,000 years ago at Tierra del Fuego at the tip of South America.
Humanity's knowledge of itself, excluding a small number of scholars is near zero. We believe what we want to believe, that which makes us comfortable and that is usually what our friends believe.
