4. The View After 1°C.

Prior to 1850, carbon dioxide was a neglible increase over the past. However, the invention of the steam engine increased rapidly the use of coal, the worst of the green house gases. And the earth started to warm and even though the effects were extreme such as 30,000 deaths from heat one summer in France, few people were even remotely aware of the total devestation.
